We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Commercial Assistant to join our dynamic One Trafford Council team at our Trafford Depot (Tatton House, 11 Caldey Road, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M23 9LF). 

 

 This role will be carried out onsite, with some hybrid working.  

 

This position offers a competitive salary, plus a Company Car

 

In this role, you will support the Trafford account by carrying out the commercial and contractual post contract duties in support of Accounts, Projects and Frameworks. You will be responsible for administering the Amey Freedom to Perform strategy, taking the appropriate responsibility and accountability in conjunction with Operations and Finance counterparts and promoting the Empower, Engage, Excel approach. You will also be ensuring all contractual and commercial administration and records are maintained to ensure the recovery of contractual entitlement, compliance with all governance, legislation and company and contractual policies.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Commit to following the spirit of the Amey Code, ensuring effective communication with our client(s) and internally  
  • Assist the Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to ensure compliance with the Amey systems, processes and procedures on Contracts between £ 1-5m p.a.
  • Assist in the preparation of any data required to populate commercial reports including Cost Value Reconciliations and cash flows as directed
  • Assist the Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to exercise full cost control of project(s) as directed
  • Manage the subcontract procurement and ensure timely and justified payments are made to subcontractors
  • Ensure that all contemporary records are kept by the project team members for use in supporting claims, extensions of time, and the evaluation of variations
  • Work within time periods required under the Contract(s) and as required by the Company
  • Adhere to all company polices and to the Amey systems, processes, and procedures on Contracts of varying sizes.
  • To ensure all data captured is fed back into the business to inform future bids.
  • Support the Commercial and Procurement teams in all aspects of subcontract procurement and payment in accordance with governance and fair payment processes.

What You’ll Bring: 

  • Hold or enrolled on a quantity surveying, commercial or related profession, degree or master’s degree, is desirable but not mandatory 
  • Completion of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and progression to Technical/Member status of the relevant professional institutions will be an expectation of the role Skills
  • Able to apply Health and Safety compliance and knowledge of Health, Safety, and Welfare and Environmental awareness legislation
  • Ability to communicate clearly with varying internal and external customers
